The FoxESS CQ16 battery system is a scalable, high-voltage energy storage system based on LFP modules with a unit capacity of 16.07 kWh, dedicated to large commercial and industrial installations with FoxESS hybrid inverters. It enables the construction of comprehensive storage systems ranging from several dozen to over 240 kWh, optimizing PV energy self-consumption, maximum power reduction, and operation with dynamic energy tariffs.
Purpose and scalability
FoxESS CQ16 was created for the C&I (Commercial & Industrial) sector, where flexibility and high storage capacity are key – from single CQ16-S modules to extensive clusters with multiple units. The system works with FoxESS commercial inverters (e.g., the P3 series), enabling intelligent energy management in production halls, logistics warehouses, PV farms, and large service facilities.
Thanks to its modular design and the CQ16-BOX unit, the system can be easily expanded – the modules are connected in series/parallel, achieving capacities of up to 241 kWh per inverter battery input, making it ideal for evolving installations as demand grows. This solution ensures energy independence, peak shaving, and maximum use of solar energy with minimal losses.
Technical parameters of the CQ16-S module
The basic CQ16-S module offers a capacity of 16.07 kWh (usable approx. 15.2 kWh), operating voltage in the high-voltage range (typ. 100-500 V per module, scalable to 1000+ V), charging/discharging current up to 200-300 A in a cluster, and efficiency of approx. 96%. LiFePO₄ cells guarantee over 6,000 cycles at 80% DoD, with a lifespan of 10+ years in intensive commercial use.
The system supports fast charging from PV (up to 1C), off-grid/EPS operation, and integration with BMS for precise SoC, SoH monitoring, and cell balancing. The maximum configuration includes up to 16 modules, with a total peak power sufficient for industrial loads.
Technology and safety
At the heart of the CQ16 are LFP cells from reputable manufacturers, ensuring thermal stability, no memory effect, and low fire risk – ideal for large installations without active cooling. An advanced BMS monitors temperature (-20°C to 55°C operating), cell voltages, currents, and fault conditions, with automatic shutdown and alarms.
The design of the modules (IP20/IP65 in BOX) allows for rack or ground mounting in technical rooms, with ergonomic service access and passive ventilation. Certifications (CE, UN38.3, IEC) and surge protection guarantee compliance with EU standards for C&I systems.
Integration and monitoring
CQ16 communicates with FoxESS inverters via CAN/RS485, enabling closed-loop charge/discharge control and optimization for dynamic tariffs. The FoxCloud platform provides real-time data: PV production, energy flows, battery cycles, and savings forecasts, with a mobile app and API for external BMS.
The system supports VPP (Virtual Power Plant), energy arbitrage, and aggregation, which increases profitability by selling surpluses to the grid or participating in DSR programs.
FoxESS – leader in C&I storage
FoxESS, part of the Tsingshan Group, manufactures advanced energy storage systems in Wuxi, China, with a capacity of >300,000 systems per year and a global service network. CQ16 stands out for its innovative scalability, high energy density, and 10-year warranty, placing the brand among the top manufacturers of hybrid PV+Storage solutions.
Economic benefits and ROI
The implementation of CQ16 reduces the payback period of PV installations to 3-5 years thanks to >80% self-consumption, 40-60% reduction in bills, and avoidance of reactive power charges. Scalability minimizes initial CAPEX, and the long life of LFP ensures low OPEX – key for business.
FoxESS CQ16 is the future of storage: a flexible, secure, and integrated system that transforms PV installations into independent industrial microgrids.
